Weary Dunlop

The bronze statue of Colonel Sir Ernest Edward “Weary” Dunlop, AC, CMG, OBE standing in the Domain, looking out towards St Kilda Road. This is the first of a pair of bronzes created by sculptor Peter Corlett. The other is in the Australian War Memorial, Canberra. This statue “commemorates all Australian doctors and medical staff who served Australian prisoners of war in the Asia-Pacific region between 1939 and 1945.”
